Dr Dan Horner is a substantive NHS consultant in emergency medicine/intensive care at a major trauma and neurosciences centre in the North West of England. He is a previous Professor of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and has research interests in the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolic disease, TBI coagulopathy and early sepsis management in the critically ill. Dan is the regional lead for Trauma and Emergency Care NIHR CRN research in Greater Manchester.
Dan is also a topic expert for several NICE/RCEM/BTS guidelines on VTE and the accompanying quality standards. Dan has chaired the VTE /Anticoagulation committee at Salford Care Organisation for the last 6 years, leading the trust to accredited VTE exemplar centre status in 2019.
