PhD student
Department of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, University of Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy
Elena Tonetto is a PhD student in Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology at University of Ferrara. Her areas of interest range from the new generation of gene editing called “base editing” and “prime editing” to engineered factor X variants as a novel by-passing agent for hemophilia. She has got her master degree in Biomolecular Sciences and Evolution at University of Ferrara with laude. During her internship at the Dept. of Life Sciences and Biotechnology she has been involved in the exploitation of base and prime editing tools to edit and revert single nucleotide mutations associated with severe Hemophilia A phenotypes. She is familiar with the main molecular biology techniques, ranging from PCR amplification and sequencing, cloning, mutagenesis up to expression of transgenes in mammalian cell lines and evaluation of mRNA (RT-PCR, capillary electrophoresis) and protein expression (ELISA, Western-blotting, functional assays).
