Post-Doctoral Researcher
Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women's Hospital
My name is Dr. Harvey Roweth and I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow working at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Institutes of Medicine, where my research focuses on the non-hemostatic roles of platelets and megakaryocytes. During my doctoral training, I investigated the mechanisms of platelet inhibition by selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors under the supervision of Dr. Gavin Jarvis at the University of Cambridge. After receiving my Ph.D., I moved to Boston Massachusetts to undergo postdoctoral training in the laboratories of Drs. Elisabeth Battinelli and Joseph Italiano, where I initially studied how breast cancer influences megakaryopoiesis and platelet production. Current and future areas of my research include understanding the contributions of platelets to cancer (pre)metastasis, and determining how platelet-derived cytokines regulate the tumor microenvironment.
