Joke Konings, PhD, senior scientist at Synapse Research Institute, was born in the Netherlands. She obtained her master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences at the Radboud University in Nijmegen and she defended her doctoral thesis "Coagulation factor XII in fibrin clot formation and fibrinolysis" in 2014 at the University of Maastricht. After obtaining her PhD degree, she joined Synapse Research Institute. Her first project concerned the optimisation and clinical validation of a method for measuring thrombin in whole blood. She is now involved in research on a new test to measure whole blood thrombin generation.
