Consultant Haematologist

Dr Tina Biss, BMed Sci, BM BS, MRCP, FRCPath, MD, is a Consultant Haematologist at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She is the clinical lead for paediatric haemostasis, thrombosis and anticoagulation.
Her research interest is paediatric thrombosis and she has been principal investigator for studies of the direct oral anticoagulants in the management of venous thrombosis in children.
She serves on many national and international panels leading to the publication of guidelines and recommendations papers.
She has an interest in global issues in haemophilia and has set up a twinning relationship between the Newcastle Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre and Aluva Haemophilia Treatment Centre in Kerala, India as part of the World Federation of Hemophilia twinning programme. This has led to significant improvements in the clinical care of adults and children with bleeding disorders in Aluva and the wider state of Kerala.
