Professor Yotis Senis, MSc PhD, is a Director of Research at the Etablissement Français du Sang, Inserm UMR-S1255 in Strasbourg, France. The research theme of the unit is the biology and pharmacology of platelets in the context of thrombosis, haemostasis and transfusion medicine. Professor Senis is also cross appointed in the School of Life Sciences and Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Strasbourg. He takes a multidisciplinary approach in his research, investigating the interplay between protein-tyrosine kinases and phosphatases and how they regulate platelet production and activation, with the overall objective of identifying novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of thrombosis and bleeding disorders, and the improvement of platelet production for transfusion into patients. He has published numerous articles in leading scientific journals in the field, book chapters and is a frequently invited speaker at national and international scientific conferences and academic institutions. He is chairing the European Molecular Biology Organization Workshop on Reversible Phosphorylation, Signal Integration and Drug Discovery in Vouliagmeni, Greece in 2021, and the Gordon Research Conference on the cell biology of megakaryocytes and platelets in Galveston, Texas in 2025.
