Kathleen P. Pratt, Ph.D., Professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Medicine, F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, MD, USA
• PhD in Biophysical Chemistry, Cornell University, 1992 (mentor Harold A. Scheraga)
• Postdoctoral work at University of Washington, Seattle, WA (mentor Earl W. Davie)
• Research projects have spanned structure/function studies of fibrinogen and factor VIII (FVIII) and characterization of immune responses of hemophilia A patients to therapeutically administered FVIII (inhibitory antibodies). Studies have included mapping of immunodominant T-cell and B-cell epitopes in FVIII, analysis of racial differences in inhibitor risk, and immune tolerance to FVIII.
• Currently pursuing studies of FVIII immunogenicity, immune tolerance, protein engineering, and novel approaches to avoid or reverse the effects of clinically important anti-drug antibodies
• Recent involvement in studies of immunothrombosis in COVID-19 patients
