Dr Lallindra Gooneratne MBBS, MD, FRCPath, FCCP is a Professor in the Department of Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and a Consulatnt Haematologist in the University Medical Unit at the National hospital of Sri Lanka. He is also the Director of the Clinical Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant unit at Asiri Central hospital, Colombo. He has a special interest in haemato-oncology and stem cell transplantation and acquired coagulopathies.
Dr Gooneratne is a former President of the Sri Lanka College of Haematologists and currently serves as the Chairperson, of the specialty board in haematology and transfusion medicine, Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is also a member of the scientific committee of the Asia-Pacific blood and marrow transplant group. His research interests include haematological malignancies such as myeloma and coagulopathy in tropical diseases such as dengue infection and snake envenomation. He was a member of the committees which developed National guidelines for management of Dengue and Leptospirosis and the committee to look into adverse effects post COVID 19 vaccination in 2021.
