Dr Chowdary is a consultant haematologist for more than 15 years and is the current Chairperson for the United Kingdom Haemophilia Centre Doctors Organisation and serves as co-director for the National Haemophilia Database. She had completed her medical training at Osmania University, India and NTR Health University, India, followed by subspecialty training in Hematology in London.
Dr Chowdaryâs research interests lie in improving strategies and clinical outcomes for personalized management of haemophilia, with a focus on novel assays for bleeding diathesis and thrombotic tendency. Dr Chowdary has served as the chief investigator for a number of clinical trials, elucidating the hemostatic and musculoskeletal outcomes of gene therapy and other novel treatments for severe haemophilia. She has overseen the development of a biobank at the Royal Free Hospital and in addition to running several investigator-initiated studies.
She has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, including three textbook chapters. She has contributed in various different roles to national and international working parties, data safety monitoring boards, trial steering committees, and national research peer review panels. She is also a member of numerous professional societies, including the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, British Society of Haemostasis and Thrombosis, European Association of Allied Bleeding disorders and the World Federation of Haemophilia.
