Dr Catherine N Bagot BSc, MBBS, MD, FRCPath is a Consultant Haematologist at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, UK, where she specialises in Haemostasis and Thrombosis and is the co-director of the West of Scotland Haemophilia and Thrombosis centre. Her clinical interests include venous thrombosis treatment and prevention, the management of inherited bleeding disorders, obstetric haematology and immune thrombocytopaenia (ITP).
Dr Bagot is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences, University of Glasgow, UK. Her main research interest is the application of thrombin generation to clinical thrombotic issues, particularly those pertaining to women's health. She is principal investigator for a number of international trials investigating new treatments for haemophilia and ITP, and a sub investigator on UK research projects investigating haemostatic abnormalities in patients with acute and long COVID-19.
She is secretary to the committee of the British Society of Haemostasis and Thrombosis (BSHT) and the Vice Chair of the Venous Thromboembolism Theme Committee for ISTH 2022. She was a member of the UK Expert Haematology Panel who advised on the diagnosis and management of vaccine-induced thrombocytopaenia and thrombosis when it became an emerging issue in the Spring of 2021.
