I have over 15 years experience researching platelet biology and the activatory and inhibitory signalling mechanisms involved in the fine tuning of platelet responses in thrombosis and haemostasis. Recent work in my lab has focussed on the cross-talk between platelets and endothelial cells and how the 'health' of the endothelium dictates thrombotic responses, as well as influencing the efficacy of standard antithrombotic treatments. Current studies include developing endothelialized in vitro models of thrombosis with exposed extracellular matrices and endothelial cell phenotype relevant to cardiovascular disease, or pathogen induced thromboinflammation, to facilitate the discovery of novel therapeutic interventions.
