Alastair Poole is Professor of Pharmacology and Cell Biology at the University of Bristol, UK. Alastair studied at the University of Cambridge, undertook a post-doc with Steve Watson at the University of Oxford, and has been a PI in Bristol since 1995. He currently investigates mechanisms of platelet generation, secretion and procoagulation, and is developing novel bioengineering approaches to generate platelets with modified potential. He is a Wellcome Trust Investigator and is funded by programme level support from the British Heart Foundation. He has served on grant panels, including Deputy Chair of UK MRC Molecular and Cellular Board, and member of the BHF Project Grants panel.
