PhD student
Sanquin Research, University of Amsterdam
Naoual Ouazzani Chahdi (MSc) is a PhD candidate at Sanquin at the department of Molecular Hematology (Amsterdam, The Netherlands). Naoual has a background in molecular life sciences and is currently in her third year of her PhD. Her PhD project focusses on investigating the role of red blood cells in venous thrombosis and finding new therapies for thrombosis. To understand the biological function of red blood cells during thrombus formation, specific red blood cell proteins, membrane proteins as well as intracellular proteins, are being studied. She developed an approach to investigate clot formation and fibrinolysis by using CRISPR-based knockout RBCs. Hence, at this ISTH she is presenting a poster about CRISPR-based knockout red blood cells as tools to study red blood cell surface protein and their involvement in venous thrombosis
