Maaike De Wilde graduated as Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences, Major Neurosciences at Ghent University (Ghent, Belgium) and started her PhD in Biomedical Sciences in the Laboratory for Thrombosis Research at KU Leuven Campus Kulak (Kortrijk, Belgium) in 2019 under the supervision of Prof. Simon F. De Meyer. Her research focusses on elucidating thrombo-inflammatory mediators of cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury in ischemic stroke and better understanding of thrombus characteristics of ischemic stroke patients, in order to provide new insights which are needed to improve ischemic stroke management.
