PhD student
Instituto Murciano de Investigación Biomédica, Universidad de Murcia, Hospital Universitario Morales Meseguer
My name is Ascension de los Reyes-García, MSc currently finishing my PhD studies, from the Instituto Murciano de Investigacion Biosanitaria-Virgen de la Arrixaca (IMIB) and Centro Regional de Hemodonación in Murcia, Spain. Since 2019 I enjoy a scholarship as a predoctoral fellow (PFIS - Predoctoral contracts for training in health research of the Carlos III Health Institute).
My current research effort is focus in improving our understanding of the role of non-coding RNAs in regulating gene expression in human and during different pathological conditions, mostly in inflammatory related diseases. This topic is combined with the study of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) implication in different diseases and its relation w/ miRNAs. These studies may lead to the development of novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of thrombotic and cardiovascular diseases.
I have participated in the publication of 10 research articles, 4 of them being D1. I have also received several awards and grants for my research, especially relevant those for my research stays in other highly prestigious centers such as the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV-UNIL) in Switzerland and the Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL) with Dr. Jorge Di Paola.
