Dr. Heike Hawerkamp is a postdoctoral research fellow at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. She is a biologist/immunologist with a special interest in the role of the immune system in haemophilia. Heike Hawerkamp studied Biology (Bachelor degree) at the Eberhard-Karls-University in Tuebingen, Germany. She then moved to Sweden to obtain her Master degree in biology with a focus on immunology and infection from the Uppsala University. Thereafter she returned to Germany to do a PhD focussing on skin immunology at the University Hospital Duesseldorf. Following her PhD, she moved to Ireland and started a PostDoc at Trinity College Dublin, where her research is centred around the role of the immune system in resolving bleeding episodes in haemophilia.
