Tomas L. Lindahl, Professor and MD., Deputy Head and Director for Reasearch of Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences, Linköping University, Linköping, Sweden. Group leader of the Hemostasis Research Group at Linköping University. Started in hemostasis research as PhD student at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm 1985, PhD 1989. I am doing research in Linköping since 1993, main sponsors at present are the Swedish Research Council, the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation, Linköping University and Region Östergötland. Member of board of the Swedish Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.since 2007. Swedish representative in European Haemostasis and Thrombosis Alliance. Member of scientific council of the Swedish Heart-Lung foundation. Member of International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostais Nominating Committee.
Main Areas of Research:
How do ruptured arteriosclerotic plaques initiate platelet adhesion, activation, and coagulation?
How is propagation of coagulation accomplished and how is thrombus growth limited?
How do the human platelet thrombin receptors GPIb, PAR1, and PAR4 act in concert to facilitate cellular responses?
Do PAR1 and PAR4 induce different signaling pathways that result in distinct cellular responses?
How is activation of platelets counteracted and balanced?
Effects of heparinoids on platelet activation
Risk factors in venous thrombosis
Oral anticoagulation with warfarin and NOACs – from genes to treatment
