Dr. Tomasz Brzoska obtained his MS in Pharmacy from the Medical University of Bialystok (Bialystok, Poland) in 2009 and his Ph.D. from the Hamamatsu University School of Medicine (Hamamatsu, Japan) in 2013. His doctoral course research in Dr. Tetsumei Urano’s lab has been focused on using intravital confocal microscopy to elucidate the molecular and biophysical mechanisms regulating hemostasis. Dr. Brzoska, as a postdoctoral scholar, joined the Pittsburgh Heart, Lung and Blood Vascular Medicine Institute (University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, USA) in January 2016. Under Dr. Prithu Sundd’s mentorship he extensively studied thrombo-inflammatory complications in sickle cell disease and developed a state of art intravital imaging model of pulmonary thrombosis in live mouse. Currently, Dr. Brzoska is a research assistant professor of medicine at the Division of Hematology/Oncology and at the Pittsburgh Heart, Lung and Blood Vascular Medicine Institute (University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, USA). He continues to study thrombo-inflammatory complications in sickle cell disease.
