PhD Student
University of Bristol
Nathalie Tarassova (MSc) is a first year PhD student in the British Heart foundation's Integrative Cardiovascular Science programme at the University of Bristol (UK), currently undertaking a series of interdisciplinary cardiovascular mini-projects. Nathalie received her Bachelor of Science in biomedical sciences at the University of York (UK) which included a year in industry at Oxford Gene Technologies (UK) working on next-generation sequencing in the context of chromosome translations in leukaemias. At York, she worked with Professor Ian Hitchcock on experimental haematology and the thrombopoietin receptor for her dissertation and then completed a one-year Research Master’s project with Professor Alastair Poole at the University of Bristol on platelet generation from megakaryocytes using a recently developed vascular lung-based ex-vivo mouse system. She is set to start her PhD project with Alastair Poole in Autumn 2022, continuing her platelet research and exploring different applications for the novel platelet generation technology.
