Dr. Constance Baaten works as a postdoctoral researcher at the department of Biochemistry at the Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht, Maastricht University, the Netherlands and at the Institute for Molecular Cardiovascular Research, University Hospital RWTH Aachen, Germany. In 2012, she obtained her master’s degree at Maastricht University in Molecular Life Sciences – Oncology and Developmental Biology after which she started as a PhD student at the department of Biochemistry, Maastricht University. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. J.W.M. Heemskerk and Dr. P.E.J. van der Meijden, she investigated the acquired impairment and recovery of platelet function. After obtaining her PhD degree in 2018, she started as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Molecular Cardiovascular Research in the group of Dr. H. Noels where she investigates the effects of chronic kidney disease on platelet function. Currently, she has a combined postdoctoral research position within the groups of Prof. H. ten Cate (Maastricht) and Dr. H. Noels (Aachen). Her current research is centered around platelet-platelet interaction in physiological and various pathophysiological conditions (CVD, CKD).
