David J. Kuter, MD, DPhil, Chief of Hematology Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston USA. Professor Kuter has devoted the past 4 decades to basic science and clinical science investigation, education and clinical care of patients with platelet disorders. His lab was one of the initial labs to discover thrombopoietin and he has had a long-standing interest in the application of thrombopoietic agents to the treatment of ITP, chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia and presurgical thrombocytopenia.
