Valentina Shpakova, PhD, Sechenov Institute of Evolutionary Physiology and Biochemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Saint Petersburg, Russia
Valentina Shpakova strated her postgraduate fellowship at the Institute of Evolutionary Physiology and Biochemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2017, and since then she works at Laboratory of Cellular mechanisms of blood homeostasis as a researcher. In 2022 she completed her postgraduate studies and defended a dissertation focused on the investigation of mechanisms of anticancer compounds action on platelet activity. The main goal of this work was to reveal the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways associated with inhibition of platelet activity. The anticipated impact the research was to find new targets of anticancer chemotherapy that can affect activation and cause bleeding or thrombotic events in patients. Such targets could help avoiding therapy complications associated with impairment of platelet functions.
