MSc. Magdalena Kopytek is PhD student at Jagiellonian University Medical College and junior assistant in laboratory at Krakow Centre for Medical Research and Technologies. Her research interests concern the pathomechanisms of the disease leading to the development and progression of aortic stenosis, with particular emphasis on the relationship between calcification, inflammation and activation of the coagulation system. The research conducted in this field concerns the expression of genes at the mRNA and protein level both in loco within the valve tissue and in vitro in cultures of valve interstitial cells (VICs).
