Dr. Colin Evans, PhD, is Research Assistant Professor at Northwestern University and Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Evans received a BSc in Exercise Sciences from the University of Birmingham (1st class honors, 2003-2006). His PhD studies on thrombus resolution were funded by the British Heart Foundation at King’s College London (pass without corrections, 2007-2010). During his postdoctoral training at the University of Cambridge (2011-2015), Colin received funding from the British Heart Foundation and the British Society for Haematology, to study the impact of pulmonary thrombosis on lung tumorigenesis. Following a Parke Davis Exchange Fellowship at the University of Illinois College of Medicine (2016-2017), Dr. Evans was appointed to the Research Faculty of Northwestern University and Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (2018-present). During this time, he was awarded an American Heart Association Career Development Award (2019-2022), to study the impact of pulmonary thrombosis on inflammatory lung injury.
Dr. Evans has received several early career awards, including an Early Career Award from the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, an Excellence in Science Award from the American Association for Advancement of Science, and a Young International Investigator Award from the Australasian Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. He is an Editorial Board Member of Thrombosis Journal, Thrombosis Research, and Thrombosis Update, and an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine.
