Simon Stanworth is Professor of Haematology & Transfusion Medicine, University of Oxford. He is Consultant Haematologist, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust and NHS Blood & Transplant, and designated Principal Investigator in Clinical Research, NHSBT.
His research aims to improve patient outcomes by defining safe and effective use of blood components, and the role of alternatives to transfusion, in both adults and paediatrics. Major themes include prevention and management of critical bleeding, better use of platelet transfusions, and management of anaemia in settings from obstetrics to myelodysplasia.
