Professional Interests: Dr. Tanaka has received his doctor of medicine degree from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan. He has completed the Anesthesiology residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (1995-1998). He subsequently pursued a clinical fellowship at the Department of Anesthesiology, Emory University School of Medicine (1998-2000). He also obtained the Masters in the Science of Clinical Research from the Graduate School of Emory University (2006). He is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology (1999).
Dr. Tanaka is the Chair and Professor in Anesthesiology at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Tanaka’s research focuses on the perioperative management of thrombosis and hemostasis. He has written more than 220 peer-reviewed original articles, 40 review papers, and book chapters. He currently serves as a Senior Editor for Anesthesia & Analgesia, and an Associate Editor for the British Journal of Anaesthesia.
