I, Claire Pouplard, am a Doctor of Pharmacy and Professor of Hematology at the Université François Rabelais (Tours-France) since 2014. I am head of the hematology-haematology department at the Trousseau Hospital (Tours), whose biological activity is focused on congenital and acquired coagulation and thrombosis disorders.
I am also the coordinator of a national study group on the biology of congenital coagulation disorders (BIMHO), under the aegis of the Groupe Français d'Etudes sur l'Hémostase et la Thrombose (GFHT).
I obtained my Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1990, then started working on platelet immunology and mainly on heparin-induced thrombocytopenia in the 1990s as a PhD student under the supervision of my mentor, Professor Yves Gruel in Tours. I obtained my PhD in 2000 with landmark studies on the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia published in JTH, Thrombosis and Haemostasis; Circulation, Blood and British J Haematol.
I have been a member of the International Society of Haemostasis and Thrombosis (ISTH) for more than 20 years and of the French Group for Studies on Haemostasis and Thrombosis (GFHT).
I am co-author of about eighty indexed articles and I am in charge of teaching haematology at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Tours, and am president of the national association of teachers of haematology, immunology and biotherapy in France.
