Dr Anna Waterhouse leads the Cardiovascular Medical Devices Group in the School of Medical Sciences, in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney and is an affiliated Group Leader at the Heart Research Institute. She has received over $6 million (AUD) in funding for her research, including from the Australian Research Centre, Heart Foundation and Ramaciotti Foundation. Her group focuses on understanding biological interactions with medical device materials, particularly vascular biological interactions and thrombosis, and bioinspired engineering to generate new model systems, technologies and surface coatings. Dr Waterhouse is originally from the UK and did her Bachelor of Science (Hons I) in Cell Biology at the University of Manchester, then received her PhD from the University of Sydney and conducted her postdoctoral research at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University.
