Elvira Grandone, MD is associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Foggia
and medical director of the Hemostasis and Thrombosis department, at the Research Institute
“I.R.C.C.S. Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza”, in San Giovanni Rotondo (Italy). She has an extensive
experience in the field of women’s health, coagulation, thrombosis, molecular biology and genetics.
Dr. Grandone obtained her Medical Degree at the Federico II University of Naples in Italy, her
Specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Naples and an Academic degree of Doctor in Medical
Sciences ( Ph.D.) in Biology and Vascular Physiopathology at the University of Perugia (Italy).
She is co-chair of the Scientific Standardization Subcommittee (SSC) on Women’ Health Issues of
the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (ISTH). She is board member of Italian
Anticoagulation Clinics Federation ( 2015- present). She was board member of the Italian Society of
Thrombosis and Haemostasis (SISET) (2008-2010).
Her research interests include: thrombophilia, venous thrombosis, pregnancy complications, blood
transfusion, thrombotic microangiopathies, genetic predisposition to multifactorial diseases, somatic
mutations involved in the development of myeloproliferative neoplasms, genetic studies on rare
bleeding disorders.
She is author of 259 peer-reviewed scientific articles in indexed journals (PubMed). H-Index: 46; n,
of citations: >8000.
