Mary-Carmen Amigo, MD, FACP, MACR, M Bioethics
Mary-Carmen Amigo, Professor of Rheumatology, got her medical degree at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico City. She completed her post-graduate medical training in the Rheumatology Department at the Instituto Nacional de Cardiología Ignacio Chávez in Mexico City where she remained as an Associate Professor for 25 years. Dr. Amigo carried out three short academic stays at St. Thomas Hospital, London, UK.
She currently works as Rheumatologist at the ABC Medical Center in Mexico City, Mexico.
Her main clinical research interests focus on antiphospholipid syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus, particularly cardiovascular, pulmonary, and renal complications. She has more than 80 peer-review publications and 40 book chapters.
In 2016, Mary-Carmen Amigo was a Founder Member of the Mexican Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis (SOMETH) and is Council Member of the ISTH since 2018.
She is a Master of the Mexican College of Rheumatology and Master of the American College of Rheumatology.
In 2019, she got a master’s degree in Bioethics at the International University of Valencia, Spain,
Recently, she was the recipient of the award, “Excellence in Medicine” 2020, from the American British Cowdray Medical Center in Mexico City.
