Upstate Medical University Hospital
My name is Irelina Lumbrera-Sumagaysay, PT, DPT, MA Special Ed., and I am a physical therapist at Upstate Medical University Hospital since 2015. I graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines, with a B.S. in Physical Therapy in 2005, and from Utica University with a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2012. I also complete my MA in Special Education from St. Joseph’s College, Philippines, in 2008. I am the PT Unit Educator for the General Medicine and Surgery unit of the hospital (Acute Care setting), primary physical therapist for adult patients with Cystic Fibrosis in acute care and the Physical Therapist for Robert C. Schwartz Cystic Fibrosis Program (Adult Outpatient CF Care Center). The care center was one of the recipients of the 2019 RFA for PT. I have participated as an Apprentice in the Physical Therapist Mentoring Program 2019 of Cystic Fibrosis Program. I have attended the NACFC for the past 3 years and have been attending seminars to be proficient in providing quality care to my clients and to be a good resource to the multidisciplinary team members.
