Catherine R. Armbruster is a CFF Carol Basbaum Memorial Research Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Jennifer Bomberger at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research draws upon the fields of microbial pathogenesis, ecology, and evolutionary genomics to investigate colonization and persistence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa throughout the CF respiratory tract. She completed her PhD in Microbiology at the University of Washington with Drs. Matthew Parsek and Lucas Hoffman and a Master's degree in Public Health at Emory University. In January 2024, she will be an Assistant Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Biological Sciences. Her laboratory will investigate how the ecology and evolution of opportunistic pathogens like Pseudomonas aeruginosa in potable water systems in buildings impacts the downstream pathogenic potential of these organisms in CF.
