Carlo Castellani, MD, has worked in the Cystic Fibrosis Centre of Verona, Italy from 1993 to 2018, where he has been in charge of the Clinical Genetics and Neonatal Screening Services and of the Adult Unit. Since 2019 he is Director of the Genoa Cystic Fibrosis Centre, located in the Gaslini Institute.
He has been President of the Italian Cystic Fibrosis Society, Secretary and VicePresident of the European Cystic Fibrosis Society, Founding Member of the European Cystic Fibrosis Society Working Group on Neonatal Screening. He is presently Deputy Editor of the Journal of Cystic Fibrosis and Scientific Director of the Italian Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation..
His main research interests are about neonatal and carrier screening, genotype/phenotype correlation and diagnosis of cystic fibrosis.
He has published 121 papers on CF in international peer review journals, 5 book chapters and has been editor of 4 books on cystic fibrosis.
