Dr. Joseph Pilewski is an Associate Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics, and Cell Biology and Physiology at the University of Pittsburgh. He is an adult pulmonary and critical care physician with clinical and research expertise in cystic fibrosis and lung transplantation. His research focuses on ion transport in airway epithelial cells and how it is dysregulated in CF, identification of new biomarkers and endpoint assays for clinical trials, and the development of new therapies for CF, including inhaled bicarbonate, ion channel modulators, and immunomodulator therapy for Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis. He is also a clinical investigator and serves as principal investigator on investigatgor initiated and multi-center trials.
