Bio Sketch Susan Galvin, BSN, RN, AMB-BC, CPN, AE-C, CCRC, Clinical Research Nurse Specialist, Cohen Children’s Medical Center of Northwell Health
Susan Galvin is the Clinical Research Nurse-Coordinator of the Northwell Health Cohen Children’s Medical Center Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center. She graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has 40 years of pediatric nursing experience in various pediatric settings and specialty areas. Susan has been caring for pediatric and adult CF patients as clinical specialty nurse for the last 28 years. She transitioned from a clinical patient care role with part time responsibilities to research to a newly developed CF Clinical Research Nurse position in 2017. She is the primary research contact with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutic Development Network (CFF TDN) for both the Pediatric and Adult Cystic Fibrosis programs. Susan has presented at the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference and has moderated multiple round table discussions at the annual international meeting as well. She is a Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN), Certified Ambulatory nurse (AMB-BC), Asthma Educator (AE-C), and Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC). Along with acting as a research mentor at Northwell Health, she is involved in the national TDN Research Coordinator /Research Nurse mentoring program. Susan is passionate about working with her CF research team and the CFF TDN to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis with a motto of “Until Its Done”. She enjoys participating in CFF fundraisers along with her family through the Greater New York Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and has been involved in the 66- mile CF Cycle for Life Bike race, the CF Climb, the CF Great Strides Walkathon, and the TD 5 Boro Bike Tour as a charity partner on behalf of the CF Foundation.
