Patrick Harrison, PhD, Senior Lecturer in Molecular Physiology, Department of Physiology, School of Medicine, University College Cork, IRELAND.
For the past 15 years, Patrick has led a Gene Editing Research Group focusing primarily on strategies to correct CF-causing mutations in the CFTR gene. His lab is funded by CF Foundation (USA), CF Trust (UK) and Science Foundation Ireland, and has extensive collaborations with labs in London, Europe, USA, and New Zealand.
He gave a keynote lecture on Gene Editing for Cystic Fibrosis: Heading Towards a Brave New World, at the 2017 European CF Society conference in Seville, and more than 50 invited talks in last seven years on gene editing.
He is European Editor of the scientific journal Gene Therapy, a board member of IPPOSI (Irish Platform for Patients’ Organisations, Science & Industry), Chair of the CF Trust (UK) Research Grants Review Committee, and member of the CF Trust (UK) Research Advisory Group.
