DeeAnna Serna, A.S., RCP, RRT-NPS, AE-C, is the Respiratory Therapy Manager for the Adult and Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Centers at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) where she coordinates with her CF team members to maintain the lung function of their patient population by maximizing ACT's and encouraging the incorporation of physical fitness into their daily routines.
She has over 25+ years of clinical experience working at various facilities throughout central and southern California. She is a neonatal pediatric specialist with 20+ years of NICU experience. She has been with the UCLA Health System since 2009 and was introduced to Cystic Fibrosis care in 2012 and has been part of the core outpatient CF care team from the beginning. She has a deep desire to increase her knowledge so she can continue to help improve the lives of the patients she cares for now and in the future.
DeeAnna’s life goal is to retire to a beautiful seaside view in Costa Rica. Her career goals include furthering her education and skill base in CF care and pulmonary function testing.
Recent accomplishments include:
• Representing the UCLA CF Team as a speaker for the 9th and now the 10th Annual CF Symposium at UCLA
• Presenting at the North America Cystic Fibrosis Conference – Nov 2021
• Invited to present again this year at NACFC in November 2022
• Being selected by the CF Foundation for the RT apprenticeship program in 2019
When she is away from work, she enjoys time with her partner Drew and their dogs Lola Grace and Luci-Fur, pulling deadlifts, exploring museums and wandering through Disneyland.
