Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center
My name is Julianne Hartmann, MS, CGC and I am a licensed and certified genetic counselor at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. I graduated from the University of Minnesota’s genetic counseling program 13 years ago and have been working in a wide variety of clinical settings since that time, including general genetics, several different pediatric specialty clinics, high-risk obstetrics, and hereditary cancer. I became interested in cystic fibrosis during one of my clinical rotations in graduate school and eventually began working in the Nebraska Regional CF Center at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha in 2015 as the center’s first genetic counselor. When my family relocated in 2017 and I took a job at Cincinnati Children’s, I was able to continue specializing in this area by providing genetic counseling for families of babies whose newborn screens show elevated IRT and 1 CFTR variant. In January 2020, I added the role of CF Newborn Screening Program Coordinator for the hospital, which has been a very rewarding position for me. I also work closely with the University of Cincinnati Genetic Counseling Graduate Program by giving lectures and supervising students in clinic; at least one of my previous students specializes in CF at her current job.
