Dr. Barto received her medical doctorate from Creighton University in 2004 and completed a dual residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in 2008 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. From there she persued an adult pulmonary and critical care fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina, which she plans on completing in 2012. During her residency she will complete a Masters of Clinical Research. Her research interest has been focused on the transition of cystic fibrosis patients and evaluation of adult developmental milestones. She was awarded a CFF Fellow Grant to conduct her work, has authored a peer-reviewed review article, and presented her findings at both NACFC as well ATS. She plans to pursue a career in academic medicine focusing on the care of cystic fibrosis patients and continuing her research in transition medicine.
