Dr. Ehre is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina (UNC). She received her B.Sc. in 1998 and a M.S. in Molecular Biology in 2000 from the University of Toulouse - Paul Sabatier, France. She received her Ph.D. in 2005 in Pathophysiology from Sorbonne University (formerly Pierre and Marie Curie) Paris, France. She did her postodoctoral research at UNC in Dr. Richard Boucher Laboratory. She became an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in 2015 with a joint appointment in the Marsico Lung Institute. Dr. Ehre laboratory studies the biochemical and biophysical properties of mucus in airways diseases, such as cystic fibrosis (CF), asthma and COPD. One of her main research goals is to gain insights into the basic defects of airway mucus that lead to impaired mucociliary clearance and use in vitro and in vivo models to test pharmacological agents aimed at restoring mucus transport in the lungs. In addition, her laboratory focuses on understanding the pathophysiological responses of the airways to inhaled pathogens to gain insight into the interactions of viruses and bacteria with cell surfaces and the role of mucus in health and disease.
