Dr. Ines Pankonien is currently working as a junior investigator at BioISI, Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisboa, Portugal.
Ines studied Biotechnology at the University of Applied Sciences Berlin where she received her first Diploma degree in 2008. She then moved on to her doctoral studies on molecular muscle physiology at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine/Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany and obtained her PhD in 2013. For her postdoc she then joined the lab of Prof. Margarida Amaral to work on Cystic Fibrosis. In 2014 she spent four months within a collaborative project in the lab of Prof. Kunzelmann, Germany. Following this, she spent 2 years at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), Germany, establishing a wound-healing tool and assay to be used in a high-throughput live-cell imaging approach. Since 2019 she is a junior investigator at BioISI, Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisboa where she is currently screening and characterizing genes affecting the regeneration of CF airway epithelial cells in order to identify novel potential therapeutic targets for CF.
