John F. Engelhardt is the Director of the Center for Gene Therapy, Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, and Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. He currently holds the Roy J. Carver Chair in Molecular Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Iowa State University in 1985, and his doctorate in human genetics from Johns Hopkins University in 1990. Research in the Engelhardt laboratory focuses on the development of new models of cystic fibrosis (CF) and the pathogenesis CF lung disease and CF-related diabetes.
