Dr. Vikesh Singh is currently a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is the Director of Pancreatology where he oversees the Pancreatitis Center and the Total Pancreatectomy with Islet Autotransplantation Program. He has also been the Director of Endoscopy at Johns Hopkins Hospital since 2018. His research is focused on clinical pancreatology with specific interests in the prevention of post-ERCP pancreatitis, impact of pancreatitis genetic testing on clinical practice, and abdominal pain due to both pancreatic and non-pancreatic conditions. He is a founding member of the Pancreatic Quantitative Sensory Testing (P-QST) Consortium which is an international multicenter group dedicated to developing P-QST as a pain phenotyping tool for patients with pain due to benign and malignant pancreatic diseases. He has over 275 publications encompassing original scientific studies, review articles, book chapters, and guidelines/consensus statements. He has current or prior grant funding from the NIH/NIDDK, Department of Defense, ASGE, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Theraly, Abbvie and Orgenesis. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Pancreas Foundation, the current Vice-Chair of the Pancreatic Disorders Section of the American Gastroenterological Association Institute, a Councilor for the International Association of Pancreatology and a member of the inaugural Medical Advisory Board for the Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS) Foundation. He graduated with an M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (2001) and an M.Sc. in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health (2008). He completed his residency training in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2004, fellowship in gastroenterology from Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 2008 and a 2 year advanced endoscopy fellowship, with a focus in pancreaticobiliary endoscopy, at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2010.
