MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Lara Dhingra, PhD is the Director of Health Disparities and Outcomes Research at the MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care and an Associate Professor of Family and Social Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Dhingra has expertise in multidisciplinary palliative care and health services research. Her research focuses on innovative models of palliative care for people with chronic illness and their family members. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the Illinois Institute of Technology, followed by a Clinical Psychology Residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center/Veterans Administration Medical Center Consortium and a National Cancer Institute-sponsored Research Fellowship in Psycho-Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Following her fellowship, she joined the Department of Pain Medicine and Palliative Care at Beth Israel Medical Center, where she became Co-Chief of Research. She is co-leading a project with Dr. Anna Georgiopoulos in partnership with five CF centers, “Pragmatic Implementation Trial of a CF Primary Palliative Care Intervention” supported by a CF Foundation Award for Innovation in Palliative Care for Patients with CF (CFF GEORGI19QI0/GEORGI20QI0). The project is designed to complement the new CFF palliative care guidelines by building a framework for a nationally generalizable model to improve best practices in generalist-level palliative care in CF.
