Associate Professor Marco Zampoli completed his paediatric pulmonology training at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital and the University of Cape Town in 2007. His clinical and research interests are wide and include pleural infections, cystic fibrosis (CF), neuromuscular diseases and sleep medicine. Prof. Zampoli is head of the paediatric CF clinic at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital and leads an emerging research group investigating various aspects of CF in South Africa and Africa. Prof Zampoli is the current chair of the SA Cystic Fibrosis Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee and paediatric editor for the Journal of the Pan African Thoracic Society. He established and is national director of the South African CF registry in 2018 and is currently completing his PhD on aspects of CF epidemiology and diagnosis in South Africa.
