Amy Sangvai is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) at the University of North Carolina Hospitals and has been a member of the Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Center Team for over eleven years. She has a deep commitment to improving the mental and behavioral well-being of her patients and families. In addition, Amy participates in quality improvement efforts and has developed a comprehensive food insecurity program that includes identifying and meeting patients’ needs for nutritious foods and partnering with local agencies to find sustainable sources of food. Amy currently serves as a member of the CF Foundation Food Security Committee.
Amy earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Bowling Green State University and her Master of Science in Social Work from The Ohio State University (OSU). Outside of work Amy volunteers on the Disaster Mental Health Team for Red Cross responding to natural and man-made disasters such as Hurricane Mitch in Honduras, Hurricane Floyd, Los Alamos Wildfires, the terrorist attacks of 9/11 in New York, and most recently Hurricane Ian in Fort Myers, Florida.
Prior to relocating to North Carolina, Amy lived in Ohio and provided clinical social work in the community for patients with HIV/AIDS; in home based hospice programs, and at The Toledo Hospital and James Cancer Hospital at OSU.
