Gretchen Bollar is a PhD Candidate at the University of Alabama at Birmingham studying in the lab of Dr. Susan Birket in the division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of South Carolina in 2019. Her current work examines the role Staphylococcus aureus small colony variants (SCVs) in cystic fibrosis airway infections, with a focus on the driving factors for SCV formation and how SCV infections may contribute to CF lung decline.
