Francine Ostrem, PhD, LMFT, serves as Cystic Fibrosis Center Mental Health Coordinator at the University of California San Francisco. She is specialized in the treatment of traumatic stress, especially as it can manifest in the management of chronic medical conditions. Francine implements evidence-based intervention to promote quality of life, health, and caregiver-child collaboration. She brings an extensive humanities background to her work in psychotherapy: after completing a PhD in German literature at UC Berkeley, she pursued a Masters in Clinical Psychology with an Expressive Arts Therapy specialization. She is the developer of an art-based therapy program, PAINT: Psychotherapeutic Art Interventions for Navigating Trauma, which is a recipient of an ACEs Aware grant from the California Surgeon General and the California Department of Health Care Services.
