Julianna Bailey, PhD, RD, LD is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Instructor in the Pulmonary Division at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Bailey received BS in Nutrition and Food Science in 2009 from Auburn University. She completed her Dietetic Internship and earned MS in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2011 where she was selected to complete the Maternal and Child Health Bureau funded UAB Pediatric Pulmonary Center Nutrition Traineeship. She earned PhD in Health Education and Health Promotion from UAB in 2021. From 2011-2014 she was the RD in the pediatric and adult CF Center and the pediatric lung transplant program at Boston Children's Hospital. She is currently the RD for the UAB Adult CF Program. Dr. Bailey has designed and led multiple clinical Quality Improvement projects in the CF program and serves on the CF Learning Network Leadership Team, CFF Food Security Committee, and as Co-Chair of the CF Foundation Experience of Care (XoC) Steering Committee. She has published numerous abstracts and manuscripts on interdisciplinary QI work, experience of care, and nutrition research in CF. In 2021 she received the Alabama Dietetic Association Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award. Current research interests include body composition and the emergence of obesity in CF, behavioral interventions to improve nutrition status, social determinants of health in CF, and the impact of CFTR modulation therapy on nutritional and metabolic outcomes.
