Dr. Terri Laguna is board-certified in pediatric pulmonology and is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics with tenure at the Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. She received her BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of New Mexico, her MD from UCSF, and completed her Pediatric Residency and Chief Residency at the University of Washington, Seattle. She completed her Pediatric Pulmonology Fellowship at the University of Colorado where she also received a master’s degree in Clinical Science. She is the Division Head of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine and the Director of the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Center of Excellence at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She holds research funding from the NIH and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to study early infections in the cystic fibrosis airway – specifically the role of anaerobic and fungal communities in the development and progression of lung disease. In addition to her administrative and research responsibilities, she loves to teach and has won five resident teaching awards over the past 14 years. She is passionate about and active in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives locally, regionally, and nationally. She is the incoming Chair for the Pediatric Assembly of the American Thoracic Society and seeks to advance pediatric science and DEI initiatives through her leadership platforms.
